Dormition Skete Icons has purchased equipment which enables us to offer our customers the finest mounted icons and icon prints available anywhere any size up to 44” x 72” !!! That’s six feet tall !!! Narrower icons can go even taller. We are only constrained by the 44" width of the printer.
We are now accepting orders for Custom Mounted Icons and Custom Icon Prints for any of our more than 430 existing icons that we currently offer. If we do not offer the icon you need, please contact us, and we will be happy to search our extensive iconography library to see if we can make that special icon that you need. With over 10,000 subjects in our iconography library, we can make almost any icon you might possibly desire.
Our custom icons are all created with the newest and most advanced Digital Imaging Technologies. They are printed on state of the art printing equipment right here at our monastery, so we have complete control of every aspect of its quality. Every icon is carefully scrutinized by the gifted eyes of our own internationally recognized iconographer, Archbishop Gregory, so that sharpness, color balance and several other artistic facets are finely tuned to produce the most aesthetically pleasing icon possible.
The advent of the digital age of photography has enabled the Monastery to present our icons at level unimaginable to us in years past. Rather than photographic dyes, or worse, the typical ink found in most consumer grade printers, our icons are printed using actual pigment, which results in a final image as close to the original as possible. The colors are deeper, more vibrant and are designed to last well beyond the lifetime of the worshipper, even to be passed down to future generations. The icons are printed right here at Dormition Skete, from the humblest two by three inch print, to the magnificent twenty four by thirty-six inch print, up seventy-two by forty-four inches.
Original icons are also photographed in house with professional grade equipment by the Fathers of Dormition Skete. These digital files are then carefully manipulated electronically on a state-of-the-art computer array, resulting in the finest icon prints available anywhere.
Commercial photographers present their original artwork in an identical format, but at prices far beyond the cost of Dormition Skete Icons. From the inception of Dormition Skete Icons, it was our intent to present these masterpieces of a world renowned iconographer to as large a customer base as possible, at the lowest possible cost to the faithful. It is our fervent desire that every Orthodox Christian have the opportunity to have an icon of his or her patron saint.
In addition to our fine digital imaging equipment, we have also recently greatly expanded our mounted icon workshop facilities, and acquired some of the finest high-end woodworking equipment available in the world. With this German-made equipment, coupled with special cutters that we had custom made here in America for our mounted icon operations, we are now able to offer a wide variety of specialty icons, such as round Pantocrator icons, round medalion icons of the Saints, and rounded top icons.
Our new, precision made equipment enables us to make our large and specialty icons to specifications that we are sure will exceed the expectations of even the most discriminating eye.

Dormition Skete has an extensive icon library which we can use to make almost any icon that you might desire. However, it takes time and effort to research the library for icons that we do not offer in our catalogue. They also usually require additional digital editing. Therefore, there will be a minimum of a $25.00 surcharge for any icon ordered that we do not offer in our catalogue, mounted or unmounted, in addition to the cost in the above table.
All Custom Icon orders are done a bid basis. Prices above are our standard prices, but prices for certain particular icons may be need to be adjusted due to a wide variety of reasons. (See below.)
Icon prices are based on the larger of the two dimensions. I.e., what is normally thought of as an 11x14" icon would be priced at the 14" rate above.
Shipping charges are additional to the prices above.
Special services, such as making a round icon, or an icon with a rounded top incur additional charges.
Icon subjects which require an inordinate amount of digital editing may incur additional charges.

All orders for Custom Mounted Icons and Icon Prints must be prepaid, and all sales are final.
Please allow 4 - 6 weeks for delivery.
Unless otherwise requested:
Mounted icons less than 8" will be mounted on 1/4" Masonite.
Mounted icons over 8" will be mounted on 3/4" Birch Fibercore.
Icons up to 24" wide (in this case, the smaller of the two dimensions) will be laminated. For example, a 24x36" icon will be laminated. All others will be varnished, like our hand-painted icons.
Icon prices are based on the larger of the two dimensions. I.e., what is normally thought of as an 11x14" icon would be priced at the 14" rate above.
Icons are typically not made to standard photographic sizes. Therefore, if while communicating to us that you would like an 11x14" icon, for example, we will make it to be 14" tall, regardless of what the width works out to be. If the second dimension (usually the width) is important to you, you need to make that clear to us in your initial communication with us. Some icons can be modified to fit standard photographic sizes, but most cannot.
